André Lauren Benjamin (born May 27, 1975), better known by his stage name André 3000 (formerly known as André), is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer and actor. He played Jeremiah Mercer in Four Brothers. He is best known as being a member of the hip hop duo Outkast. He is also best known as the creator of Cartoon Network animated series Class of 3000.

Early lifeEdit

Benjamin was born on May 27, 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA as André Lauren Benjamin, the only child of Sharon Hodo, who raised him by herself, and Lawrence Walker. He grew up in East Point and Buckhead, Georgia, and attended Willis A. Sutton Middle School and Tri-Cities High School for the Performing Arts, where his artistic leanings were encouraged.
